Some things you might like to know...
“You have to ‘Be’ before you can ‘Do’ and ‘Do’ before you can ‘Have’."
What is...........??
Skin - the largest organ of the body and is the only organ that actually replaces itself on a continual basis. The skin is self-healing, self-cleaning, and self-regenerating.
The function of the skin is: keeps out bacteria, water, sun's radiation, dirt, and gases.
Syntheticze Vitam D for sunglight for use by body.
Regulates body temperature.
Eliminates harmful toxins.
Responds to stimuli - heat, cold, pain pressure, touch.
It's composed of 3 seperate layers: dermis, epidermis, and subcutaneous layer. Each layer is distinct and different; however, they always function as one system. Whatever is done to one affects the other. The epidermis is the outermost layer of the skin. This remarkable shield consits of flat, dry, keratinized cells that flake constantly and are replaced by new cells formed in the layers beneat. The process takes approximately 28 days from the time cells are shed at the surface.
Collagen - the tough, fibrous protein that helps skin hold its shape. undamaged collagen fibers might be compared to thin rubber bands; they are very elastic and sping back easily when stretched. Ultraviolet light from the sun damages collagen, causing the fibers to hook together and become thick and lose their "spring." This allows the skin to sag. Skin then falls into folds or wrinkles, the commin sign of aging.
Elastin - the other protein found in the dermis. It also plays a role in the elsaticity of the skin. There is considerably less elastin in the dermis than there is collagen. However, as the skin is damged by ultraviolet exposue, the amount of elastin decreases.
Free Radicals - A "loose" molecule disrupts regular cell activity while trying to stabilize itself. The molecule becomes unstable and attaches to the cell wherever it can. This creates an imbalance in the cell, which affects the cell's ability to nourish itself and eliminate waste properly. The result is a premate cellular collapse. Skin normally contains a small amount of free radicals and has its own defense against them. Stress, pollution and sunlight can cause free radicals to multiply and overwhelm natural defenses.
Exfoliation - increases cellular renewal rates and improves skin texture. Skin throws off dead cells on the upper layer every four hours. it is the dead cells lying on the surface of the skin, combined with oils and other body wastes and atmospheric poullution that make the face dirty. New skin cells are created in the skin's lower layer, the dermis. Over time, cells migrate to the surface of the skin and become more acidic. During their 30 day journey, they die and become saturated with keratin. Keratin is important because it protects the skin from outside elements. Through the aging process, and after menopause for women, the natural process of skin erosion becomes uneven, which gives skin a dry and rough character. Exfoliation removes the outer layer to reveal the newer skin beneath. This shedding of the outer layer unclogs pores, keeps skin clean, and helps reduce acne breakouts. Exfoliation should always be done after cleansing the skin. Exfoliation is important for men as it exposes the hair follicles, allowing a better shave. It is possible to over exfoliate, which dries and irritates the skin. The face is the part of the body most sensitive to exfoliation. Dry skin can lead to wrinkle development.
Moisturizing - most important step to keeping skin looking youngful. Finding a moisturizer for each skin type is the key to healthier skin.
The results will make skin appear younger and smoother.
MY FAVORITE TOPICS:
Microdermabrasion
Time inevitably takes its toll on your skin and exposure to the elements causes it to become damaged and dull. Microdermabrasion gently removes the upper layer of dead skin cells, leaving skin soft and smooth. Removeal of thedea skin brings the eahlthy under layer of skin to the surface, encouraging healthy cell rejuvanation. The process is entirely safe, painless and non-invasive, usually taking less than 30 minutes for a complete facial treatment. Microdermabrasion can leave your skin softer, smoother and fresher looking than you may even ever thought possible.
Benefits:
reduced appaearance of streatc marks, age spots, pigmentation imbalances, fine age lines and wrinkles
a renew fresh skin tone and more youthful appearance
reduction of enlarged pores
decreased appearance of scars from trauma, acne, chicken pox, etc.
imporved appearance of sun damaged skin.
Peels
An Enzyme peel accelerates the natural exfoliate process of the skin to get rid of dead skin cells, promote young cell renewal, and visibly diminish scars, stretch marks, aging spots and lines, sun damage, and skin discoloration. Enzymes penetrate the upper layers of the tissue, cleansing pores and improving skin texture, tone, elasticity and tautness.
Although some enzyme peels work with the aid of acids or mechanical granules, natural enzymes are the most recommended to prevent dryness or allergic reactions. In fact, some strong chemicals used for deep peeling, such as phenol, may cause cancer of the skin or side effects.
In order to obtain the most benefits from enzyme peels, whatever the product you choose or the natural home remedy, you can get the most from it by applying a thin layer to your clean and dry skin, rather than a thick coat. Enzymes work best by rubbing gently in a mild circular motion.
As far as chemical peels go, glycolic acid peels are among the mildest and most popular. That's largely because glycolic acid is considered to be natural.
During a glycolic acid peel, the solution is applied using a sponge and left on the skin for a predetermined amount of time based on concentration. It penetrates the skin and breaks the bonds that hold each layer together. Once the desired number of layers have been separated and removed, the acid can be washed off with water. Immediately after a treatment, the skin will look red and continue to peel for several days. The entire process from treatment to recovery can take a week or more.
Glycolic acid peels are mild when compared with some of their more hazardous counterparts, and as a result the outcome might not be as noticeable as you'd like. It's typical that multiple peels will be necessary to achieve the desired result. The upside is that there are very few complications associated with glycolic acid peels.
